As we get older, doesn’t it feel like we wake up one day and suddenly our bodies are creaky and our joints don’t move like they used to?
If you are like me, this seems to happens overnight. But in reality, that is the aging process. As we get older the saying – “use it or lose it” – is so very true. The less that we move our joints and muscles, the more stiff they will become and the less range of motion the joints and muscles in our bodies will have!

Functional Movement Screening
Move better and reduce your risk of injury by scheduling a Functional Movement Screen.
A Functional Movement Screen is a great way to identify movement patterns that might increase your risk of injury in sport and in exercise. Your screen will result in a series of recommended exercises that will improve how you move – whether when working out or just moving in life. These exercises can easily be incorporated into your existing personal training sessions. Or you can schedule sessions devoted to improving your weak areas.
Active Isolated Stretching
How about relieving muscle tension and restore healthy movement in your joints? Schedule an Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) session.
Relaxing and healing! Those two words describe an AIS session. Or, as one of our clients with arthritic knees exclaimed, “This is amazing. I feel so good!” Being stretched by an AIS practitioner is gentle on the body. It not only lengthens tight muscles, but AIS also releases the deeply held tension that can inhibit our full range of motion and cause aches and pains. I just had a session on my hips – and they felt instantly better.
Mobility Training Sessions

When you work mobility with Strand Fitness, your personal trainer will develop a plan to enhance your body’s range of motion. And then they will lead you through a program that combines stretching, low impact movement, and/or tension release. The use of tools such as our ballet barre, foam rollers and yoga straps will help target the key muscles and joints that support healthy and strong movement.
