My suggestions for those struggling to exercise regularly

We all know the benefits of regular exercise.  It keeps our bodies and minds healthy. Exercise helps us regulate our weight and keep our outlook on life positive.  We sleep better when we exercise regularly.  When we exercise regularly, we gain confidence, we move better, and we prevent illness and disease. We look better and have more stamina.  The list goes on and on and on.

Why don’t more people exercise regularly?

Yet, there are many people who do not exercise regularly.  I have always wondered why. Moving our body is one of the most natural things to do.  So why don’t more of us exercise regularly?

  1. Lack of Time
  2. Low Self-worth
  3. Dislike of exercise
  4. Lack of confidence
  5. Intimidation
  6. Fear of injury
  7. Little exercise experience
  8. Believing you have to get it perfect

Work with a professional 

Whether it is a personal trainer or a group fitness class instructor, consider working with a professional who can guide you in proper form, the right intensity, and productive plan for you. Today’s fitness industry is very diverse; there is something for everyone. 

Experiment with different types of exercise

Check out different classes and different fitness facilities.  You may also want to browse the Internet as there are many online programs and applications available. See what form of exercise is most enticing to you.  Doing what you enjoy or what interests you helps ensure consistency over time.

Challenge your Gremlin

The Gremlin is that little voice on the inside that tells us we aren’t worthy or we are not enough.  Gremlins work to keep us safe.  But what they really do is hold us back from what we desire in life. Name your Gremlin.  And then thank it for keeping you safe, but let it know you can take it from here.  You are worth it!

Change your assumptions

Don’t let your past keep you from a fit future.  It doesn’t matter what did or did not happen in the past.  A fresh start is only a small step away.  Start small by doing one thing consistently until you get the hang of it.  Then build from there. The long term is what matters most. 

Yes you can!

Shift your limiting beliefs

You own your beliefs; therefore you can change them to what works best for you.  Never exercised before?  Not a big deal!  Don’t consider yourself athletic? Not a problem.  Simply believe that you belong, and you will.  Believe that you can do it, and you can. Exercise is a beautiful thing.  It is for everyone!
